Introduction
The largest modosophont-friendly habitat in the Perplextar Alpha system, constructed and owned by the NoCoZo megacorp Perplextar Entertainment Corporation. Usually just called the Visitor Center.
Configoration
It is a small Stanford Torus, 1 km in radius and 200m wide, with a wide selection of environmental options to provide comfortable living quarters for most clades and aliens, even super-extremophile ones like the To'u'l.
Governing AIs
The Perplaxtar Alpha development is currently being directed by the basic second toposophic (SI:2.1) AI Moebius5 (or select a better name - MAK), who occaisonally gives quirky or serious, or enigmatic (to modosphont sensibilities) announcements at the Vistor Center and elsewhere
The center and associated remotes are under the control and supervision of a high first toposophic (SI:1.8) AI called Dora (or select a better name - MAK), who can communicate with station crew and visitors via temporary avatars created out of angelnet nnao and utility fog. Dora includes a large number of superturing autonomous subroutines, usually in bioshells (softbot) and cybershells, the visitor can also communicate with these individually, if they hacve any questions or requests. This subroutines, also called Doras, will usually have the form of the sophont they are designed to or choose to relating too; for near-baselines they will be humanoid in form and in psychological interaction, and so on.
"The Pecs"
"The Pecs" is the informal term by wandering modosophonts and AIs, ranging from turing and SI:1, that have been created by the corporation and do various tasks to keep things running smoothly. Apart from a few exceptions, they are generally not as approachable as the Doras. They are all distinct, although each bears the PEC logo. They may be organic, virtual, cyborg, or bot, in form. In personality they may be friendly, aloof, impatient, or any other characteristic. They cannot do any action that would harm the company. Indeed, for them PEC is a religionm, the entire meaning and purpose of life, and they think of and relate to the Corporate Transapients, and especially Moebius5 and Dora, the same way that humans and other sophonts would worship a deity.
Angelnetting
The entire habitat is SI:2 angelnetted, which means that - barring the increasingly unlikely possibility of an attack by a dormant weapon system, the safety of all visitors is assured. No physical accidents can occur, no sophonts can harm themselves or others, and no weapons will operate anywhere in the Visitor Center (so adventuyrous visitors may bring or nanoassemble (for a small fee) various weapon systems of their choice, but these will only be activated outside the security perimeter)
